Lambs to the slaughter! Only joking. :)

I too started from scratch in Thailand back in 2009. Then moved onto China, back to Thailand when I got older and finally now back in the UK nearing retirement.

I just uploaded my first video on You tube about the second school I worked at in Thailand. More for memories than anything else: https://youtu.be/1aU9kjLIN78

Here’s a syllabus that I used for several years that you might get some ideas for on lesson plans: https://www.academia.edu/11730502/ABL_TEFL_SYLLABUS

An article on teaching in China: https://www.academia.edu/16438508/TEFL_ ... r_Mongolia

It’s a slow steady slog and the answers eventually come from experience. It’s not just a question of saying do this and that. Most drift into it and learn as they go along unless you have specific questions.

Welcome Newbie! You sure picked a fun place to teach! I myself wanted to teach there but discovered I could earn twice as much $$$ in China and three of my good friends in China lured me from Spain to Beijing. Anyway, I took two vacations in Thailand to satisfy my curiosity. You found a great forum here at tefl.net and I think you will enjoy your new career. But I must warn you to be on guard against a bunch of job scams, visa scams, dating scams etc. that will target you because they know you just got off the boat so to speak. Visit here and you will see what I am talking about. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8888 Also be highly suspicious of all the PMs you get from seemingly friendly and helpful people. One out of ten will be sincere and the others want to sell you something - directly or indirectly. You may also want to visit https://reddit.com/r/teflscams and https://ruqqus.com/+teflblacklist from time to time just to avoid unpleasant surprises. Once again, welcome and enjoy all that great spicy food and don't drunk in Pataya at night or you WILL get robbed. Best of all be sure to get down to Phuket which has one of the Top 10 beaches in the world!
Before sending off your resume or passport scan, be sure to check https://reddit.com/r/teflscams and to vaccinate yourself against foreign teacher job scams.
