Any coursebook you recommend for Business English?

Unread post by kurten »

Good evening from Japan,

Could anyone recommend me a coursebook for teaching/learning Business English?
Requirements are:
- 3 or 4 levels (or more)
- covering 4 skills
- starting from beginner level
- preferably using International or American English

I need to find a fairly 'ordinary' beginner to (low)intermediate coursebook, using situations and vocabulary that fit the needs of business people.

Thanks
Larry

I'm not sure that there are any Business English coursebook series which start at beginner and then go up to Intermediate. In fact, the only decent beginner level BE textbooks I know are Business Start Up.

Generally, most Business English presuppose an intermediate level in English. Logical really, when you think about it.

Hi Larry,
I use MARKET LEADER, Pearson Longman. It goes from elementary to advanced and I do all the grammar using the "BUSINESS GRAMMAR AND USAGE" also by Pearson.
Have a look here http://www.market-leader.net
The teachers book is a little overpriced in my opinion.
Hope to have been of some help.

In Company starts at Elementary and is mostly pretty decent for a Business English book, I haven't used the Elementary edition but the later levels have a lexis focused approach.
