That's China for you. Why bother?

Sadly, in the last few months the public mood of China has turned a bit nationalistic and anti-foreigner since the West has been making a lot of unproven allegations about China, and frankly pissed them off by not lifting the trade sanctions that Biden promised them that he would do after he got elected. So all the foreigners there are subjected to double standards. In some cities they are making foreign teachers get tested every two weeks while Chinese teachers must only get tested once a month. My buddy and his GF were refused admission to a movie theater recently. But most of us think this negative attitude will go away when Biden lifts the trade sanctions.

Hopefully these tensions and hostility is short term. If not, then I will sadly have to leave a fun place to work and all my good Chinese friends.
I suggest every TEFL teacher take a visit to https://reddit.com/r/TEFLscams BEFORE they send off their resumes.

You know the Beijing Olympics are only 10 months away, so they will probably change their attitude about foreigners pretty soon. I also regret that the "warm, fuzzy, feeling we enjoyed for years disappeared after China got blamed for COVID.
Before sending off your resume or passport scan, be sure to check https://reddit.com/r/teflscams and to vaccinate yourself against foreign teacher job scams.
