UPDATE: Because of all the strict COVID restrictions, less than 10,000 foreign teachers remain in China today
First came the crack down on fake teachers with fake diplomas (2018). Then in 2020 COVID hit while half of the Laowai teachers were back home for the Christmas holidays and locked out of China. Then in 2021 all the foreign-owned chains were booted out of China, and now the mass lock-downs and COVID ...

He has been black-listed for the last six months by CFTU and China Scam Patrol and apparently he is using aliases as well. I see a lot of people found out the hard way.

I am not surprised after 10 years of using fake teachers to defraud all the parents of China. I am glad to see all fraud being vacuumed away so Chinese kids can get a real education.

I knew they were scammers the very first time they called me and said they had reviewed my resume and I qualified for three different jobs yet "Martin" could not tell me the salaries offered nor what was the closest subway station was for any of the employers. Furthermore, I never send the...

https://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/minion-what-gif-11.gif TEFL teachers in Asia are so used to fraud and scams that they think nobody will care very much if they fudge their resumes. NOT! The China Teachers Alliance, China Scam Patrol and CFTU have received copies of a TEFL blacklist s...

May I ask why you don't contact hagwons and universities directly with your resume? Your experience and degree will buy you a lot of consideration but if I were you, I would not tell them you are already in Korea or they will low-ball on the salary.

I been reading at two other TEFL forums I also visit and saw a quote from Steve Jobs that caught my attention "There are two ways to learn in this world. We either learn from the mistakes of others, or we learn the hard and costly way" So far, from what I see in China, most expats learn th...

Re: Sharing videos about COVID19 with translations for 28 languages!
There is a danger in just feeding students COVID info that comes only from government sources in which the kids essentially become sponges that absorb government propaganda. I teach secondary school teachers and two high school classes and I encourage them to not only learn COVID terminology in Engl...

From what I can see, they stopped doing this sneaky shit since COVID closed the borders. I guess they cannot afford to lose any more expat teachers right now. I hope they don't start this crap again after the borders reopen.

Maybe it is just safer to assume they are all crooked and not waste our time looking for that "needle in a haystack" - the handful in a thousand that might be honest. I am just gonn find my own jobs directly from now on.

Re: TEFL Job Scams - We don't know what we don't know...
The more I really think about it, I guess we really should not have very high expectations of anything in China - especially honesty. I read a while ago that more than 75% of the IP cases in the WTO and World Court involve the Chinese. If they drop these high salaries when they open up for the Olymp...

Yeah okay, BUT do you think the big bucks will last or drop like a rock when the borders open back when the Olympic roll around. This could just be a temporary thing you know - done out neccesity. I know one thing for sure, the Chinese never pay a nickel more than they have to.
