I really need some guidance
I am TEFL qualified through I-to-I (140 hour professional course). I really, really want to leave my present job and start teaching, first in London and then after a year abroad. I passed my course fine and I have a BA(hons) but I still feel horribly unprepared to teach. I bought a bunch of TEFL boo...

I passed my course so what now?
I passed my telf course with Love tefl I-to-I (120 hour professional course) so I just thought I'd check here to see what advice I can get about what to do now. I think I might like to find a 3 or 5 month gig first and then move onto a year long contract or something. I already have a BA(hons) in En...

Re: First steps
You seem fine for this. If you are OK with public speaking, working with people, are calm yet decisive and organised and willing to put a lot of time into research and planning and in general like the idea of teaching and and being part of different cultures. I'm no expert and different places will ...

Do I need a PGCE?
I have a BA(hons) and I'm getting a qualification with I to I.
I am in Britain.
If I want to teach children do I need to get a PGCE? What do I need to do to get a job in a school?

Re: Which course should I take?
Thanks again, Briona. I am planning to go abroad (China or near that) for a year maybe a few without it being a permanent thing. I mean, it could turn out to be the reason why I was put on this earth but I'm not counting on it. With this in mind: would the I to I course be sufficient to find me some...

Re: Which course should I take?
Thanks again Brionna, it's fortunate you're on here. I just want to get as much information as I can on people's experiences but not many seem to want to come forward. I usually got a reply that boiled down to "it depends" so I've tried to be a bit more specific. I do not want to teach Eng...

Which course should I take?
What course did you use and would you recommend it? I am a UK citizen and I have a BA in English Language. I know I want to teach abroad but if I wanted to teach in East Asia (let's just say China for now) what is the best course for me to take and what should I consider? I know CELTA, DELTA, Trinit...

Re: What is the deal with I to I?
Thanks for the reply. So if I only wanted to teach English for a few years, partly for the experience of the thing itself and partly to get my foot on the employment ladder for I have little experience that makes me very employable, I may want to consider I to I? Is it a better course to that purpose?

What is the deal with I to I?
I was contacted directly by I to I, a tefl training company. They are rarely mentioned here as unlike Celta or the other one. So I wanted to know if anyone else has experience with it and I would like to know what people think of it. Is it a scam? They claim to be globally recognised and that if I d...

Re: Questions I've been thinking about
1) I get the impression that people are mainly teaching children in schools. Is this inevitable? I don't mind children but I don't know if I am capable of controlling a class room or if my course will teach me this. Personally I'd think you're under a misapprehension (though it may be more true in ...

Being safe with contracts.
I would always read the contract but I'm worried about how to go about this. Would I be able to get an English translation? How do I know that the translation is actually what's on the actual contract so I avoid getting scammed? What general advice is there for people to make sure that they do the b...

I've been talking to I to I and they said that an I to I qualification was recognised world wide. How likely is it that an employer will not accept an I to I qualification?

Questions I've been thinking about
I've been lurking here for a while and I am and (as you would expect) thinking about starting a career in teaching English abroad. I am a UK citizen and I have a BA in English Language and Creative writing. Here are the things I'm really wondering about: 1) I get the impression that people are mainl...
