Why don't you try creative ways, like letting the students write poems: show them how a limerick looks like and let them try writing one themselves' let them experience in different types of writing: a letter, a movie script, a contract... and so on.
what do you think?

Hi Shir, Reading comprehension relies on rich vocabulary and understanding of syntax, context and structure. I believe in learning through experience, therefore "letting the kids play" with words, brainstorming with them about the origin of new words, letting them explore rather than recit...
