Vietnam 🇻🇳 Academic Manager: Hanoi

JOB DESCRIPTION

EMG Education is looking for a highly skilled, dedicated and qualified Academic Manager who is both an excellent classroom practitioner with experience in a variety of teaching contexts, particularly at public schools, and at the same time, a competent manager with some experience managing other teachers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A) RECRUITMENT:

To read applicants CVs & shortlist for interview
To interview expatriate teachers to undertake a full time teaching commitment
To assess teachers classroom & planning skills in interview according to set criteria
To evaluate teachers suitability to work effectively within a Vietnamese government school environment
To evaluate teachers suitability to work in the EMG organization as an initial Quality Control Step
To provide promptly, accurate feedback to HR on applicants suitability for employment
To provide accurate feedback to managers on applicants interviewed
To collaborate with HR in the strategic planning for staffing & recruitment

B) QUALITY CONTROL:

To oversee the Probation process for new teachers
To undertake classroom observations in collaboration with managers as part of the Probation process at EMG
To provide accurate feedback to teachers on their planning & classroom performance
To make recommendations for long term employment (beyond Probation) to HR in collaboration with managers
To monitor teachers performance through classroom visits & monitoring lesson plans
To provide information on teachers performance as part of the EMG Complaints Management Process
To initiate/ participate in needs based & strategic Professional development to grow the competencies of individual teachers
To initiate/ participate in professional development that improves the quality of what EMG delivers in classrooms
To mentor initially new managers & sub managers as required

C) CURRICULUM DELIVERY & DEVELOPMENT:

To oversee curriculum development & implementation as required
To oversee assessment making sure the required standards for international & Vietnamese curriculum providers are met
To promote & uphold EMG’s commitment to building a curriculum focused on understanding for Vietnamese schools
To oversee the development & subsequent implementation of a 1-12 curriculum model
To oversee a CLIL (Language Immersion Model) for curriculum delivery

BENEFITS

Full time job.
Location: Hanoi, Viet Nam.
Salary: Negotiable.

REQUIREMENTS

Native English speaker with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Teaching certificate (TESOL, CELTA, or TEFL).
Extensive teaching experience (5+ years) in a wide range of contexts, particularly public schools.
Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Vietnamese language is an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
Competent with needs analysis, assessment and evaluation. Have good knowledge and application of curriculum design and development process.
Experienced in mentoring staff members.
Possess qualities of diligence, flexibility, open-mindedness, cultural sensitivity and patience.
Ability to work independently and as a team member, cope with workload pressure and deadlines, and work in a results-based environment.
Clear background check.
Teacher training experience is an advantage.
