HI,
I didn't do great in Uni but can anyone shed some light on the importance of degree classifications?
I understand certain employers require a certain grade so we can exclude them from the conversation.
The scenario is you got a Third class degree from UK and a TEFL.
Thank you.

Many employers are probably more interested in a good TEFL cert than a good degree. Often the TEFL cert is to show you are trained/qualified to teach English (as a foreign language) while the degree is required to get you a work permit/visa. In other words, the cert is an "academic" requirement while the degree is a government requirement. (Many/most countries will not allow foreigners to work [teach] without a degree but the classification is hardly important.)

Brilliant.
Thank you for the response.
I just started the TEFL 120 hours and I hope to leave move into teaching after 10 years of insurance selling.
If anyone is in Birmingham UK, give me a shout.
Kind regards,
Mohammed

I suppose it depends where you want to teach. In Asia, as long as you have a verifiable degree it’s all that matters. In Britain and perhaps even Europe a third class degree might raise an eyebrow, but in Asia the degree class and even subject doesn’t matter.
