Re: New Sailing ESL China Job Agents? Scam or Legit?

I suggest you stick with the safe jobs posted here at TEFLNET. "New Sailing" operates as different companies and I found the below at Scam.com on their "China Liars List". (Link: https://www.scam.com/showthread.php?704 ... ost1940632)

This is a verbatim cut and paste, not my opinion;

"Beware! - New Sailing is also Sail Away (Beijing) - Both are Black ESL Recruiter Scams

This is a Chinese-owned operation as you can see from their website. Apparently they started out with a fairly decent reputation in 2010 with job placements in Shandong, but over the years have followed the easy but illegal path to riches - recruiting teachers with disinformation about legal visa requirements. Some of their "independent agents" even tell students where to buy fake university degrees and it is "okay to work your first 90 days in China on a tourist or business visa". In reality that is illegal and exactly why 229 foreign teachers recently got themselves arrested in China when the PSB (Public Security Bureau) caught up with them.

Owner Emily Zhang

To be clear, the company only advertises under "New Sailing" and not their web site name of Sail ESL. According to SAIC in Beijing, there is no business license issued in either name. Likewaise SAFEA claims they are not known to them nor legally allowed to recruit any foreign employees for China. The Beijing and Haidian Tax Bureaus also have not record of this company.

We sent one of our UC teachers to apply for a job with them and although they did make quite a few placements with legitimate universities with qualified teachers, they continue to promote illegal placements with numeorius black schools with teachers who have no z visas nor university degrees. Those teachers who utilize their placement service stand a 50% chance or being arrested and deported. http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.co ... ed-in.html

Well according to Scam.com and EslWatch this New Sailing is a scam agency and they also use the name SAIL ESL. They are rated "AVOID" by the CTA and also blacklisted under the following names NEW SAIL ESL, NEW SAILING, and SAIL ESL by the CFTU. It looklike they recruited the foreigner Peter Newell to front for them. Strangely, they do not even attempt to defend themselves against any of the accusations. I suppose they made plenty of money in the 4 years they went undetected by changing their names and using blind recruitment ads. https://eslwatch.info/eslwatch-forum/ch ... l-esl.html
