Hi,
I am in the process of applying for a TEFL/TESOL and taking their courses. In the mean time I have a few foreign exchange friends that are asking me if I can assist them with learning English. The problem is, is that they are complete beginners and I don’t know where to start.
Is Youtube a reliable source for materials that I might need? Are there any sites that offer English teaching materials?

Youtube can be good but you have to pick and choose because some stuff is flat out wrong.
There are several reputable sites dedicated to learners and/or teachers of English.
You could start with EnglishClub which has loads of resources (including videos) as well as links to other sites:
