Russian student, where to begin. Halfway through TEFL course

Unread post by Annabelle1 »

Hi all. I'm currently working on a TEFL course with a view to having live-in students next year. In the meantime, my partner's daughter, aged 20 is coming to stay. I have not met her but she has spent all her life in Russia with only the occasional visit to Europe and has very limited English. Can anybody advise me some good textbooks to start from scratch and any other advice whatsoever will be very much appreciated. I am finding the TEFL course good and very helpful so far but have a way to go yet and madame is arriving sooner rather than later! Tia, Annabelle

Hi,

You're right in looking for a good course book, it'll save you a lot of time planning.

Headway and English File are both good. You may want to wait to meet her before deciding the level to get; she'll probably be beginner or elementary but it's a good idea to assess her level before buying a book you'll be stuck with.
