As you see here this comes directly from the Chinese government so don’t listen to some smooth talking job agent or recruiter who tries to tell you something different:

This also determines whether or not you can get a FEC (Foreign Experts Certificate). https://www.china-briefing.com/news/chi ... er-talent/
When you hear conflicting information I suggest you call your embassy or the Chinese consulate or you may find yourself getting detained and deported.

Re: 2020-2021 Official China Mandatory TEFL Teacher Requirements
Thank you for posting that OP link which is an eye-opener. It made me realize my recruiter "Ted" (if that is his real name) from Foreign HR in Beijing has been lying through his teeth to me and when I confronted him about it, he replied only with "Don't worry we'll get you university degree that will pass any inspection, with a seal and everything for only $500. As for the Z visa, you get it after you finish your 90 day probation period". Two blatant lies in the space of 10 minutes. After calming down I asked him to send me my contract to read it, and he said "It's in Chinese, do you read Chinese? I will translate it for you when you get here". Ladies and gentlemen unless you don't mind the lies, I suggest you consider doing what I just did three days ago. I read this link of the OP thoroughly and this this link I found at https://reddit.com/r/tefl_tips_traps_scams and after following the advice I found in the "How to be a great TEFL Teacher" post, I just got a Skype call last night with an offer to work in Shanghai for 22,000 rmb per month with a Z visa and a furnished apartment as soon as I graduate with my art degree in two months. Accurate information is golden and I thank you again for your post Vagabond.

Re: 2020-2021 Official China Mandatory TEFL Teacher Requirements
Why do they keep making it more difficult for foreigners to teach in China, even though they keep saying they will make it easier? This bullshit is getting frustrating!
I suggest every TEFL teacher take a visit to https://reddit.com/r/TEFLscams BEFORE they send off their resumes.
Re: 2020-2021 Official China Mandatory TEFL Teacher Requirements
I think because a lot of those Chinese students who went to study education abroad at expensive universities are coming home to China because they can't find teaching jobs overseas, especially because of COVID. Most are better qualified than all the fake foreign teachers so now the government can demand better qualifications from us foreigners or they will just hire all the degreed bi-lingual Chinese who returned in need of jobs. They may even work for less money than us. At least that is my theory.
Watch your step in China. There is a pile of shit waiting for your foot around every corner that only laowai seem to step in. See https://reddit.com/r/workabroadfraud.
