I have recently finished an online TEFL/TESOL course and I am now looking for jobs both in Korea and Taiwan. I responded to a job advertisement on esljobs.com and in response received and email from the recruiter, a Mr Bryan Wu, asking for copies of my passport and education certificates. He appears genuine, pay and hours are what I would expect etc but I have heard about possible scams.
I was hopping someone might be able to clarify, if they have come across this name or not?
Mr Bryan Wu
esljobtainwan@gmail.com
he also offers a phone line and a Skype contact.
in addition if anyone can offer me advise on job placement companies for schools in taiwan it would be much appreciated.

As long as he's not asking for money and/or original degree certificates, should be OK.
Re: esljobtaiwan scam or not?
It should be ok. He probably just wants to speed up the application process for an ARC.

Hi, I am currently working through Bryan, as you've said, he seems legit. Did Bryan do right by you?

Re: esljobtaiwan scam or not?
First of all, why are you messing around with a recruiter? Go direct to the Taiwan school you want and then you won't have to guess about whether or not you are dealing with a crook or identity thief. Get the school contacts from the CFTU on reddit at https://reddit.com/r/cftu. Seriously, if you don't go direct and DIY, you are just rolling the dice friend. Almost everyone speaks English in Taiwan if they are under 40 so don't worry about contacting the schools directly. Good luck!
The best TEFL advice I ever got is at https://reddit.com/r/tefl_tips_traps_scams and right here at TEFL.net.
