An MA in Linguistics or a CELTA/DELTA or a Ph. D in Linguistics. The requirement to teach English in the Gulf?

Unread post by pbadya »

Hello!

Seeking some guidance concerning English language teaching in a GCC/Gulf/Middle-East country.

Bio:
Fluent in: English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi,
Previous teaching experience: 2 years (Private Higher Secondary School in India),
Academic qualifications: BA Programme, MA English Lit. (India), PG Diploma in Translation (Hindi to English and vice-versa), and an MA in English Language and Linguistics (U.K), IELTS 7.5,
Publishing experience: A co-authored poetry book, presented a paper at an international conference in Linguistics, a research paper in a journal,
Other co-curricular experiences: sports career, rock music band that released original music and got featured in the press and radio.

Why Gulf:
Do not have that "typical" Indian accent. Heard that it is a plus.
Considering the region for a maximum of 3 years to save some money.

Question:
Would you recommend me go for CELTA/DELTA course to secure a better job and salary or an MA in Linguistics would suffice?
OR
Do a Ph. D in Linguistics (from the EU) to level up my profile, avoid a teaching position at school and land up in a better-paying job at a college or a uni? What are the current scenarios?

Many thanks in advance!
