Fraud Warning: WorkAndLiveInChina .com is nasty China TEFL Job Scam

Just a head's up to all my TEFL colleagues that this original complaint from a former employee unleashed a storm of posts that are now being censored by a paid hacker. So have a read and share this with every expat you know before it also disappears:
https://www.reddit.com/r/China/comments ... ency_scam/

BTW... This fraud was first reported by China Scam Patrol and the CFTU in 2019 when the scammers began cold-calling expat TEFL teachers with a great lie: "Sorry for the delay John nut I just got around to reading you resume and I have some great news for you!" Unfortunately "John" (and hundreds of other targets never sent a resume to this gang) This story shows exactly why we need to pay more attention to scam warning sites like

Just in case the hackers hit the above link, here is a cut and paste of the comments...

Work and Live in China website/agency SCAM! 🚨
中国生活 | Life in China

🚨 PLEASE BE AWARE! SCAM ALERT! 🚨 (Company details who scammed me below + accounts from the involved Individuals)

I have fallen for this scam, I applied for a job through this agency, got accepted, flew to China and given them all my official documents (valued 2000€ for authentication etc.) because I was told they would use them to apply for my work visa. Instead, they kept my documents and used this against me to threaten me and force me to work without a work visa. I was promised a good salary, a legal work visa and additional benefits from this company. I never got a work visa, was forced and threatened to work under conditions I had never agreed on and ultimately lost much more money throughout the year that I have spend in China. Please stay away from this company, the reviews you see on their website are all paid for and fake.

I tried commenting under their YouTube videos and Instagram posts to show others that this is a scam but my comments always get deleted by them and now they have set their Instagram account private so that I can’t reach out to their followers to protect them from getting scammed.

UPDATE: I am now being threatened by this company. They messaged me saying they will share my personal details such as my passport number on the internet so that others have access to it to conduct illegal activities in my name.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN A VICTIM OF THIS SCAM PLEASE CONTACT ME!

Other victims: I have been in contact with other victims and have seen emails of this company promising it’s fine and legal to work under a Tourist visa. Also, many (if not all) articles on their Website are stolen from other people’s blogs. I am in contact with 2 people who’s articles have been plagiarised by work and live in China.

Please upvote, share and comment so other people can see this and not fall for the same scam!

Feel free to comment under their YouTube and social media and spread the word that this is a scam! Or if you’re brave, go through their short application process and record the interview like I did and try to find out as many things about them on camera as possible so we can combine all the evidence to stop them from scamming other people!

If you have any more ideas how I can raise awareness please feel free to comment them!

UPDATE 2: 🚨 I have commented a Facebook link below this post where you can see some evidence including threatening messages, questionable emails to other victims and other illegal actions from work and live in China. ❗️

I have pictures & Videos of some of the scammers as well as screenshots of their messages which I will share in a video later on, I will link the video here once it’s uploaded!

Thank you for taking your time to read this and please take care of yourselves, I truly hope that no one falls for a scam like this!

I knew they were scammers the very first time they called me and said they had reviewed my resume and I qualified for three different jobs yet "Martin" could not tell me the salaries offered nor what was the closest subway station was for any of the employers. Furthermore, I never send them my resume! I shared this info with my roommate who wanted to schedule an interview, so I gave him the call back number that registered automatically on my phone. When he called back and asked for Martin, a Chinese woman said "There is no Martin here".
I suggest every TEFL teacher take a visit to https://reddit.com/r/TEFLscams BEFORE they send off their resumes.
