Finding a New Job - Don't Know Where to Start

Unread post by GlobeTrekker »

Hi everyone,

I have been out of teaching for a couple of year and I am looking to get back into it. I am really a little bit lost and not sure where to start.

I have 7 years' teaching experience mainly in Europe with a bit spent in China. I have a CELTA, YL Certificate, and DELTA. I have a little bit of experience with management and teacher training, though my main experience is teaching adults, teens and older primary kids.

Not to beat around the bush, I am looking for a job where I can earn and save real cash. I haven't had the best couple of years personally and have eaten in to most of my savings. Obviously I want to have a reasonably enjoyable life too and not work a seven day week.

The thing is, I just don't know where to start. With all these restrictions, not really being a 'new teacher', but not having not taught for a couple of years, I just don't know the best place to start looking. I have seen some interesting roles with September starts, but that is too far away for me.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hello :)

It can be really daunting going back into teaching after a break, it's completely normal! If you're in need of some proper advice why not look for jobs with an education recruitment agency like www.i-teachers.com who specialise in teaching jobs? Then you'll probably get a better idea of the jobs that are out there and what will suit what you're looking for.

Good luck with your search!

Quite a few are out there right now. If you're looking for a physical job–try taking a look at immigration policies in Canada (if you're not from there already). A handful of my colleagues transferred there because Canada opted to host 40k+ refugees from Ukraine, so there's been an influx of students/professionals on the scene.

If you're looking for online opportunities, I forgot the name (I'll try to comment here when I find it) but there's a growing virtual teaching platform in the UK right now.

For other out-of-the-box ideas, you can start online ventures like starting your own e-commerce store [1] or even building your own social media agency [2] two incredibly popular alternative routes you can take online nowadays!
