Anyone completed an Online TEFL course?

We would love to hear from you, as the only reviews they have published are on their school website. And the owner, Ian Leahy, appears to spend much of those 4 working hours a day that he likes to boast about, attempting to trash competitive Online TEFL course programs.

Perhaps it's an excellent course.

If you are a graduate of this Online TEFL program, please feel free to leave a review over at

Thank you for your time.

Mia Williams.

You say on your website this:
Each year, Trusted TEFL Reviews asks language schools, universities, current English teachers, and...

But the whois for your website says your site is less than a year old.

Didn't you get banned from r/tefl for this?

You left a post on whether eslinsider was legit or not and within 12 hours a fake review attacking ESLinsider under an anonymous user on your site shows up with the title.

“There is absolutely no excuse, in 2019, to objectify women for marketing purposes.”

That was left by an "anonymous" user. They didn't take a course. They responded to another post about a fake review left on my subreddit "hours" before.

"Mia Williams"

You are fake.

Who are you really? There is no personal information on you. And I never "trusted" your website when I first saw it.

I read your post that was on this site that was here:
And seems to be gone now oddly enough. Why is that?

And you claim your site has "verified" reviews. Verified by whom? and if you really wanted to be transparent then you would require people to leave their full name and attach it to Facebook or some other identity.

But you left that review right?

Dear Ian Leahy.

Your reply is extremely defensive.

Perhaps, instead, you should focus on your Online TEFL program, instead of attacking all other Online TEFL programs within your online radar.

The review of your Online TEFL course, posted on, was submitted by a verified user, a real person, who was required to provide proof of course participation in order for the review to be published: ... -purposes/

Perhaps the reason why they opted for the 'Anonymous' user name can be explained by your aggressive online stance, whereby you sugarcoat your school, and lambast anyone who doesn't agree with you.

If I were leaving a similar review of your Online TEFL program, I would personally worry about possible retribution from yourself.

You are more than welcome to ask any one of the "thousands" of TEFL graduates that have taken your course, for them to add their review of your Online TEFL program.

So, now, you have hundreds of 5-star reviews of your Online TEFL program - listed on your school website - and one, two star review, listed on an independent Online TEFL reviews website.

We only publish reviews. Don't shoot the messenger.

With favorable regards,

Mia Williams.

I hope this isn't how you speak to your customers Ian.

The gentleman approach to receiving a negative reviews is to address the issues raised, and to then attempt to turn your reply into an overall positive reading experience for anyone coming across the review.

A negative review is an opportunity to listen to customer concerns, take them on board, and to then improve your product/service.

If, however, you only publish five star reviews on your own TEFL website, and can't handle just one negative review on an independent reviews website - well, that is a choice of path that you are free to choose to take.

It does also, raise the question of the validity of the five star, gleaming reviews published on your Online TEFL website and does appear to add credence to the website, calling out your unorthodox tactics online:

I won't be responding to any more of your hate-filled, delusional posts.

My advice: try not to be so misogynistic, regarding your marketing materials. And instead of blaming others, try focusing instead, on the quality of your Online TEFL course offers.

Again, don't shoot the messenger. We only publish verified Online TEFL Reviews, written by real people.

On a positive note, the certificate copy provided to verify the review, looked very professional.

Oh, and as it's clear that you are a prolific poster on, I'm not surprised that you mentioned this lowbrow online forum, where people can write literally anything, under an assumed name. Besides, the TEFL section of is 5% real users, and 95% TEFL schools - astroturfing their courses in underhanded, under-the-table posts. Anyone with a working brain understands this.

That's me, over and out now regarding this thread.

You are a fake and a liar.

Anybody that gets a fake review about them written is going to be angry. That review on your site went up less than 12 hours after I made a post on my subreddit about a troll who lied and attacked me.

And then you read that review and took the information from that which was misinformation and lies to begin with and then wrote a review on your site. All this happened within 12 hours.

In the odd chance that it wasn't you who wrote it then it would have been another troll, but like I said no one has recently paid for that course AND even if they did they couldn't complete it in "12 hours". That's impossible.

You are a fake and a liar.

Dear Ian Leahy (AKA: 'TEFLoutsider', 'TEFLinsider'.

I'm a little confused.

Are you referring to this following review? ... -purposes/

As I have mentioned, we only publish verified reviews, written by real people.

Why not add a response that adds a more positive light to your Online TEFL/TESOL course, and addresses the issues raised by the reviewer? A negative review is often a lost opportunity for demonstrating your professional approach to your customers - by listening to their concerns.

I have noticed that you don't shy from critically reviewing competitive Online TEFL programs on your school website. And perhaps it was a competing school that started the website, highlighting (among other issues) this unprofessional marketing approach:

We only publish reviews. Don't shoot the messenger.

I wrote, 'over and out' in my previous message, and this is the final confirmation of that statement. I won't be engaging in any further dialogue with you, but we will be very happy for you to post a (professional) response to the review, which was independently published by a graduate of your program.

Over and out.

Just to update, people now have the opportunity of leaving ESLinsider reviews on Trusted TEFL Reviews.
Should any ESLinsider verified customer reviews arrive, published, it will mean that it won't only be your own website that publishes reviews of your own TEFL course.
