Re: languagecorps online certificate...

Hi Melissa, I saw that you are interested in working in Russia or Ukraine. Over there, they require a minimum of a 100-hour TESOL/TEFL certificate and if you take an online course, they will ask you if you have any teaching experience or if you have completed a practicum module (class observation an...

Re: Tefl course

Hi Pete, Based on our experience in developing courses for the purpose of obtaining recognition from TESL Canada and Trinity CertTESOL, I can say that the creation of ACTDEC was not just for PR reasons, but an outstanding initiative to set international standards in distance and online TESOL/TEFL ed...

Re: Tefl course

Pete, I don't see anything wrong with a school that sets up an organization in order to create a standard for TESOL/TEFL distance education by inviting other schools to join them and then evolve to the point that ACTDEC is now applying for QCA's approval. It's a proactive and outstanding move which ...

Re: Tefl course

It's true that there are many schools that are accredited by sketchy organizations. The worst cases are schools that have the Mexican chamber of commerce and travel organizations recognizing their TEFL courses and then there are organizations like the ODLQC that are not TEFL organizations but accred...

Re: Internship - legit?

If you look at the price of the 120-hour TEFL course they offer with this internship program, they're actually charging you over $500 for the job placement service when you can get this for free. Also, almost every school offers free or subsidized accommodation, return airfare, and working visa, so ...

Re: TEFL online Certificate without the support of a tutor.

Hi Sydmil, I see that the course you mention is US$190 without a tutor. I don't really know how they structure the course so I couldn't tell you if a tutor is essential for that specific program. In Ontesol's Methodology module, a tutor is essential because you have to submit real lesson plans, and ...

Re: CELTA / TEFL course provider - Vietnam OR Thailand

Hi Neil, That's an interesting question. A TEFL/TESOL course (CELTA included) mainly prepares you to teach English to adults at any level. If you want to teach English to children or teenagers, you should still take the TEFL/TESOL course because it provides you with the fundamental training for teac...

Re: TEFL classes

If you are willing to spend approximately $2,000, take an on-site Trinity or CELTA course. In Canada, TESL Canada is the norm and it's also highly recognized throughout the world. You can take this one on-site or online and if you take the course online you also need to complete a 20-hour practicum....

Re: Different TEFL costs?

If you are taking an online course of 100 hours or less, don't spend more than $300-$400. A Trinity, CELTA, or TESL Canada course is approximately $1,500-$2,000 because the training is more intensive, a practicum module is provided, and the accreditation is highly regarded throughout the world. Re: CELTA / TEFL course provider - Vietnam OR Thailand

You don't need to take a preliminary TESOL/TEFL to take a CELTA, Trinity, or TESL Canada course. People take the shorter courses because they can get a lot of jobs without going through an intensive course or paying almost $2,000. Here at Coventry House International and Ontesol we offer Trinity and...

Ontesol offers online courses recognized by ACTDEC UK and TESL Canada. If you are on a limited budget, the 100-hour course is only $269 (Canadian dollars).

Re: teflcourse.net -- too good to be true certification?

There is a big industry of private English Institutes here in Canada that caters to international students, but Canada is also a multicultural country with a vast flow of immigrants, so there are also government run programs in this category, although there have been a lot of cuts in past 10 years. ...

Re: teflcourse.net -- too good to be true certification?

Alex, Another choice would be TESL Canada. In fact, most schools in Canada require teachers to have a TESL Canada certificate, and this accreditation is also highly regarded in the US, Australia, and Europe. Also, ACTDEC is in the process of being approved by the QCA. Lucas from Ontesol www.ontesol....
