Re: China Visa Police Using Rewards To Catch Fake Foreign Teachers...Be Careful!

5000 RMB per teacher...nice. I get the feeling that I'd never actually see the money though.

Re: The real scoop on CELTA

This thread is somewhat disheartening. My own experience (Solihull College, UK - Pass B) was that the CELTA was both enjoyable and useful. The course was somewhat easy in terms of content, but for the volume (I did it part-time whilst working full-time in a law firm so input for 7 hours on Saturdays...

Re: Is a chain school the best option?

There are pros and cons to both. In a chain school you may find your dealings with the school are more consistent and they are able to offer you greater benefits. Additionally, the chain may be a plus on your CV as your next school will have heard of it, and may offer opportunities for promotion or ...

Don't be scared by the fact you are told you can do anything... This is actually a good sign that the school recognises different opinions on methodology, and the freedom means that you can try many methods to see which work for you. My CELTA lesson plans sometimes took 8 hours to prepare (for just ...

Re: Setting up a Language School in France

Well typical business advice first - draw up a business plan. Investigate your costs and market. Look at your competitors - how will you compete with them? They are already established, so is it cost, quality, niche courses? Have you really considered the scale of the project? You want to buy premis...

Re: Interested on teaching English abroad

Hi Lou, there are many so called "TEFL" courses out there, but many are not even worth contemplating. The only two that are truly respected are the CELTA and the Trinity Certificate. I am not so familiar with the full details of Trinity, but the CELTA is a 4 week full-time (or 3 month part time) cou...

Re: Teaching students Online

Language students are generally quite resourceful at finding teachers and classes, so putting yourself about (for want of a better expression) on the internet will help. I wouldn't necessarily trust that the sites you mention have any better idea than you about where to find students. Using general ...
