I was even shocked one day to see a post right here on this forum about fake notes, passports and visas.
Did you report it? I hope so! You only have to click the Report exclamation mark.

Re: Using a story to illustrate your chosen target language.......

Hello, My mind has gone completely blank. I am just a little confused and majorly overloaded with studying and reading for hours on end. Because I am more of a visual learner I sometimes read a question and interpret it differently to how others would read it therefore get myself confused. This is ...

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

Happened to see on BBC just today a report showing men waiting at some well-known (to them) location where builders would come and pick them up for a day's work (£50 to £80 I think they said - well below minimum wage anyway). They all couldn't get regular work because they had no papers, some from R...

Re: Goodbye TEFL and a return home to chaos

A minority niche subject perhaps, with many not being in this position, but to continue. In an era of mass-immigration and the free movement of people, there is a process to go through on returning to the country of origin and that applies equally to Britain and especially if you’ve been away a lon...

Re: Teaching TEFL Abroad Without an Anglo-Saxon/American name?

Everything seems to be an issue for these employers. Name, age, qualifications, handsome or ugly and all the rest. They are actually looking for a perfect "barby" doll and not a good professional. Gone are the days when a fresh man would be welcome to a honey ride. Things have gotten so rough that ...

Re: Teaching TEFL Abroad Without an Anglo-Saxon/American name?

Hello, I am a Caucasian, a U.S. citizen, and I have a B.A. from an American university. I would like to teach English abroad, but I am wondering if my name would be a hindrance? I have a foreign-sounding name as I wasn't born in America, but rather moved to the U.S. when I was three. My nickname ca...

Re: 'taking off' and 'landing'. nouns or verbs?

I'm currently on a CELTA course and I need to teach a vocab lesson tomorrow on airport related vocab. One of the activities is a gap-fill. In these contexts are these words verbs or nouns? I thought they were nouns from the dictionary definitions but I'm not sure: When a plane is going up in the sk...

Re: NON - NATIVE DOUBTS - PLEASE HELP ASAP - URGENT

Hello, I am a non-native Asian woman with a high-functioning anxiety disorder. I have been quite skeptical about opting in for a teaching job in Asia or Europe. I think I would be great with kids, however, the 'Are you a non-native?' question makes me wonder if I should even apply for jobs across. ...

Not a book as such but a very useful tool that should be in every TEFL teacher's toolkit: the WORD UP board game for English learners at: https://www.englishclub.com/store/product/wordup-esl-game/ and a classroom pack https://www.englishclub.com/store/product/wordup-esl-game-schools/ You'll never be...

Class dismissed: Surge in arrests of foreign teachers in China

Arrests and deportations of foreign teachers in China have soared this year, lawyers, schools and teachers say, amid a broad crackdown defined by new police tactics and Beijing's push for a "cleaner", more patriotic education system. Re: CELTA hell in Cambodia

Well I guess if you know from the start what country you want to teach in, you may have a point. But if you just want to train to equip you to teach *anywhere*, I don't see the need to train abroad. You get plenty of experience of learners when doing practice teaching in a class with 12 learners fro...

Re: CELTA hell in Cambodia

That doesn't sound too good for Cambridge. I always had a higher opinion of them but maybe it has to change. You've had a bad experience and let's hope others will learn from it. Having said that, there really is no reason to fly half-way round the world when you can do perfectly respectable TEFLs (...

Great idea for teaching English through science. It works well. I'd recommend any of these resources: https://www.meddeas.ie/esl-science-activities/ https://study.com/academy/topic/esl-science-lesson-plans.html https://www.fluentu.com/blog/educator-english/esl-science-lesson/ https://busyteacher.org...
