Teaching career-related issues

Hello Edwin, You could try to set this up as project work. Group all the tourism students together, doctors together etc. In their groups, they prepare a presentation for the rest of the class. If their English isn't good enough for a presentation, they could make a poster. They can use the internet...

How do I get teenagers to work together?

Dear Auntie, I've just taken over a class of teenagers from another teacher who was having trouble with them and I can see why. What can I do with my textbook?

Dear Auntie Lucy,

I have a new textbook to use with my students that was chosen by someone else. The level is too high and it doesn't suit my teaching style.

What can I do with it? Please don't say change it. I have no choice, I have to use it.

Thanks

How do I plan a series of lessons?

Dear Auntie,

I would like to try planning a series of lessons instead of giving one-off lessons.

How do I go about doing this?

Thank you

When I try to present the language they complain that they know it all already. What can I do with them? They won't be able to pass to the next level i...

My students never get the pronunciation of words like stream or string right.

They all say "estream" or "estring". I don't know what to do.

Thanks
