Have you looked at British/American schools and universities abroad? TEFL is notoriously badly paid. In the past Japan, Korea and some of the gulf states paid very well. I think even those countries have been hit by the economic crisis. I'm not sure how much you aim to earn. Is it above 42K Eur? GBP...

The verb disappear doesn't take an object. Eg you can't say "the magician disappeared the rabbit".

You can't say "they disappeared the water in the lake"; this makes the passive that you've quoted above incorrect.

I suggest you test them on whatever you have been teaching in class. That's the only fair way to deal with it.
