Re: Picking an online TESL course

Tenneray, thanks for the link to TESL Canada's approved programs. It's good to see OnTESOL on that list, because I wasn't sure if I trusted that program. Maybe it's just my perception of these things, but their online appearance made me wary. I'll have to take another look at their programs. CELTA, ...

Re: Picking an online TESL course

CELTA, CertTESOL, and SIT TESOL seem to be the standard in terms of "globally recognized," because they have huge reputations in the TESOL industry. From there, it's about what the employer wants. There are regional trends. Some regions will accept certificates from certain programs, some will accep...

Japan's regard for TEFL certificates

How are 120-hour/with practicum TEFL certificates currently regarded by most employers in Japan? When I taught there in 1997-2004, they didn't seem to have much sway. It was mostly about the bachelor degree for visa purposes, and from there it was your years of experience that opened higher-level do...

Sorry, I confused this post with another one and thought you were talking about a job interview.

Has interviewer asked if you did your cert online?

If you have a TEFL certificate or other credential, has a job interviewer asked you if you did your credential online? They could of course look it up before or after the interview, but I'm just wondering if any of you have seen this indication that they're concerned about credentials being done onl...

Re: Help! Now they asked me to submit a lesson plan

I don't remember having to submit a lesson plan for any of my jobs. I did have to give a mini lesson in a couple of interviews.

The issue might not be with the pedagogy, but with how that approach fits with the particular students you'd be teaching.
