Re: BEWARE: Dave's ESL Cafe

Thanks for sharing. I have seen a few of these scams as well!! Very disheartening.
And I am not impressed with Dave's ESL Cafe for endorsing this garbage!!
Do be careful out there... it's more than a JUNGLE!

Re: am I too old

These days, its all about life experience., the more life experience you have.. the better!! Yes, being young and free is still a bonus, but if I was a student today and serious about learning English, I would prefer an older teacher. As well, don't be fooled, lots of schools hirer older teachers.

Student feedback is critical so that I can be sure I am reaching all students who I am teaching... not just the brighter ones. Learning how effective you are to your students is what makes you a good ...

Re: Best country to turn up and teach with no qualification

I am new to this site (and I realizer that this is an old post)... however I just got back from Vietnam where I taught in Ho Chi Min under a tourist visa. The school was great although they did not help with accommodations. I had actually wanted to get a work visa but the school wasn't interested. T...

Re: Is there no chance for me with HIV?

Thailand does not test for HIV nor do they care if you are HIV+ I spoke with Thai Embassy directly today in Washington and they confirmed this. So don't let people on here mislead you. Contact the embassy directly and find out the facts.. not the myths There is plenty of opportunity for people who a...

Re: Want to teach in Japan or Korea with HIV

Hi Briona. You are giving out incorrect information. Many people who are HIV+ teach English in Thailand. I also have a friend right now teaching English in Korea who is HIV+ and she also taught English in Bangkok for 2 years as well. Yes, you undergo a medical exam (quite simple) BUT they do not tes...
