Re: Doing Delta modules 1 and 3 independently with no course

Well, in answer to my own, overlong question: yes, it is possible to prepare for and pass Delta M1 (with Distinction btw) all on one's lonesome in 10 weeks, as long as one has access to resources and past papers and studies like a demon.

Re: HELP! TEFL job in UK - worth it?

There is year-round, decently-paid TEFL work at some British universities. Some international students have to complete a foundation course to get their academic qualifications up to speed before they can study on an undergraduate degree, and there are other pre-uni course options and requirements, ...

Re: Does Tefl need a shake up and need to shape up? Discuss.

I think you have to make judgements about how and what to teach according to the level, the type of course, the students' backgrounds and expectations, and sometimes just what is happening on a particular day in a given moment. There aren't any fixed "rules" about teaching, and exercising a bit of p...

Re: CELTA - UK or abroad

I'd say that if you want to work in Spain, getting your CELTA qualification there, particularly in the city or region in which you want to work, would actually be more advantageous - the course tutors may be in a better position to give you specific advice about working in the country, and they coul...

Re: How best to group words

I don't know details about the theory, but regarding suggestions, do you teach monolingual or multilingual classes? If the former, you could introduce the keyword technique (which Nation himself is a proponent of incidentally), in which the learners find a connection or similarity between the term i...

Re: HELP! Open class 100 students + Parents

Hi,

You could do a big pronunciation lesson with an introduction to English phonemes, to get everyone , of any and all levels, involved and producing sounds. Check out Adrian Underhill's demo here for inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kAPHyHd7Lo. He makes it look so easy!

Re: TEFL & CELTA?

Hello, Perhaps you were asking about the difference between the Trinity CertTESOL and the CELTA? If so, it definitely wouldn't be worth doing both of them - it would be like having 2 Maths A levels from 2 different exam boards. They each cover more or less the same ground and are (or should be) abou...

Doing Delta modules 1 and 3 independently with no course

Hello again, I am still weighing up the options before deciding how to go about getting the Cambridge Delta. My latest bright idea is to do modules 1 and 3 without enrolling on any kind of course at all, but instead to do them entirely through self-study and then take the exam / submit the Extended ...

Re: Bell Online Delta v. IH Distance Delta

Hi Alex, Thanks a lot for your quick and helpful reply - I will look into other Distance Learning course providers before making my final decision. My language school is very pro- peer observation, so that should be straightforward enough to organize myself. In theory, finding a Local Tutor shouldn'...

Bell Online Delta v. IH Distance Delta

Hello there, I am planning to do the Cambridge Delta via distance learning and I would like to confirm a couple of details about the only two course providers that seem to do it - Bell http://www.bellenglish.com/Courses/77035/Online-Delta-/2013-02-18/ and International House http://thedistancedelta....
