My management career has been extensive, including academic, commercial and administrative aspects of the ESL business. I am reliable, adaptable and an excellent communicator. My management approach seeks to harness the talent and knowledge of those around me, in order to deliver the highest quality of service to the customer. I enjoy having individual responsibility, as well as building and motivating teams of professionals. I meet my targets and work well under pressure.

My teaching style is learner-focused and seeks to guide the learner towards an understanding of the sounds, structures and lexis of the English language, through the medium of a relaxed and supportive classroom environment, in a meaningful and relevant context. I have a particular interest in teaching lexical chunking and pronunciation, areas which I consider essential to develop learner confidence and autonomy.

Career History

2015 - 2017 Assessment Consultant British Council (China)

IELTS Speaking and Writing Modules examiner on a full-time basis. The role involves extensive travelling in China and regular monitoring and retraining to maintain the standard.

2013 – 2014 English Instructor Luminus Language Solutions (Iraq)

Delivering intensive General English language courses to employees of Royal Dutch Shell oil company. Responsibilities include test & lesson materials preparation, report writing and general administration, as well as supervising local teachers.

Jan – Jun 2013 General Manager Kingdom Education Group (UK)

Preparation for the first year launch of 4 UK summer schools. Recruitment, liaison with centres, management training, syllabus development, ensuring BAC accreditation standards were met and general management of the programmes, supporting centre management teams during the summer.

2011–2012 Business English Manager RMIT University (Vietnam)

Design, development and delivery of ESP programs, both corporate and in-house. Full participation in the English Language Programs management. Operational management of the Pham Ngoc Thach campus in HCMC.

Manager of a year-round school taking students from all over the world, preparing them for IELTS, TOEFL and TOIEC, as well as the Cambridge suite examinations.
