summer season UK

Unread post by sunshines »

Hi,

I'm thinking about applying for a CELTA course in Oxford, which starts at the beginning of May.
My plan afterwards is to find a TEFL job (non-residential, Mon-Fri) in the South East for the summer. If I did the CELTA course in May, would this be cutting it too fine in terms of finding a summer job from June onwards? When do most centres/organisations have their deadlines for the summer season? Obviously, I will email the individual centres too but I was just wondering whether anyone here had done a CELTA course at a similar time and managed to find summer work within the UK afterwards?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank-you :)

UK summer schools are recruiting now! I would say you will be too late so apply now and tell them you are doing the CELTA. Go for it - you have nothing to lose!

Depending on how good business is this summer (and the pound is low, so should be okay), I imagine some schools might offer employment conditional on you passing the course. Most summer schools are busiest from July anyway.
