Ideas for a TEFL thesis topic?

Unread post by mrtraveller »

Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I hope I’m in the right place. I’m an English language teacher. Meanwhile, I'm studying for my M.A. in curriculum and teaching methodologies.
These days I’m thinking about a topic for my theses and need a help.
- Where to start and where to go?
- What are the current issues in TEFL?
- What are some of the global problems relating to TEFL?
( My students’ mother tongue is Arabic and they are 14-16 years old)
ANY SUGGESTION YOU MAKE WILL BE OF GOOD VALUE.

You could look into the marketing side if TEFL.
Why wages are so low in the EFL world. Latin America comes to mind;and why in other parts of the world, EFL pays very well and also may have excellent benefits.
Or a possible International Standard for people wanting to get into EFL. An example could be a MINIMUM of a Masters being REQUIRED to get into the field. This perhaps, or some other type of international entrance standard may help the EFL world be taken more serious.

I wouldn't be too quick to assume that in other parts of the world, EFL is much better paid than in Latin America. Try Southeast Asia, for instance, one of the major destinations for travelling TEFLERs.
