In Person vs. Internet (Vietnam, Thailand)

Unread post by nallenj »

I am a newly certified Trinity TESOL with a 4-year american bachelor's degree and native speaker, yet no teaching experience. I have applied and been rejected from ILA Vietnam so far. I am aware the semester starts in September in the region. Should I just travel to vietnam and start voraciously pursuing a position? any thoughts appreciated

If you go to Thailand you should have no difficulty obtaining suitable employment, and certainly not if you have qualified with a Trinity Cert, even if it would be your first teaching job. The best jobs go to the people who are already in the country and available for a face-to-face interview. Be sure to dress impeccably for the part. The second semester of the school year starts around Oct/Nov and ends around the end of Feb. Full school year starts on 15 May. High street language institutes operate all year round with staff coming and going at any time.
