Headway and TEFL Online

Unread post by mmevd »

Recently I had an interview. The company was seeking only certified English teachers with knowledge of the teaching method "Headway". Does anyone know if this method is taught in any online TEFL course? Thanks in advance for your help.

'Headway' is not a method per se but a series of coursebooks written by Liz & John Soars and published by Oxford University Press.

Originally published in 1986, 'Headway' books are the biggest-selling English coursebooks in the world and have changed the way that EFL is taught. In a move away from the 'communicative approach' which was popular at the time, the authors believed that students learn a language both by using it, and by understanding it how it works. Their ideas have been much copied so many other coursebooks now follow a similar format.
