Best EFL course book (series) for adults?

Unread postby franaconda » Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:23 am

I've been given a rough budget and told to submit a list of recommendations for course books for older teens/adults. Ideally they'll have an accompanying audio CD and it doesn't matter if they don't have separate teacher and student course books (although that would be good as the students could then have a book). A series of books going right from beginner to advanced would be preferred and it's General English as I'll have the add the specialist content myself.

Er, HELP?! I've only ever used English File and Headway and before this job I did EAL support in an international school and was a private governess, so both with children and neither involved teaching from a course!

Somehow your post got missed, so here is a late reply for anyone piing up the thread here:

Check out the websites of the leading publishers of EFL text books. Nowadays the sites are extremely comprehensive, often with sub sites for many of their leading titles. with downloadable sample pages.

Almost all texbooks come with a CD or DVD, and with a teacher's manual, and additional workbooks and activities for students.

See such publishers as Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Macmillan, Pearson Longman, Addison-Wesley, etc.
