Need advice for teaching English in Istanbul

Hello everyone:

I have completed my TEFL Certificate here in Canada and hold 3 university degrees (2 bachelors and a Masters). I am planning to look for TEFL jobs in Istanbul in the very near future and would love some feedback and advice from anyone who has lived and taught in Turkey.

I'm wondering if it's best to apply for teaching jobs before landing in Turkey or if i have better chances getting to Istanbul and look around for jobs in person?

Also, am wondering what the average salary for a teaching position is in Istanbul?
