Is this Tesol course safe?

Unread post by tachi »

Hi, I have recently finsihed a BA in IT but have yet to graduate. I have been contemplating teaching english for most of the year and decided I might spend some of my holidays doing a tesol course overseas to see whats its like.

The problem is there are so many, most it seems are the same courses but are being offered by different companies so I am assumming they are just reselling the courses.

The one I am interested in is with the following company http://www.tesolcourse.com/. On http://www.teflcoursereview.com it has two positive reviews but one of them state that their certificate isn't recongnised.

In particular I am interested in doing the couse offered at Zhuhai in China. Does anyone have any experience with this company? Would it be safe/legit to book it?

Thanks

Hi Tachi,
Instead of spending more than $1,300 on an unaccredited course, you should consider Ontesol's 250-hour online program (only $975). This course and the 20-hour practicum (You can take it anywhere in the world) is recognized by TESL Canada Professional Standard 2 and ACTDEC UK Level 3. It's an extended version of Coventry House International's 5-week Trinity CertTESOL course (Recognized by TESL Canada Professional Standard 1).

Your comments are coming dangerously close to spam. At the very least state each time that you work for that company and/ or try to make your comments more general (e.g. "Make sure that the course includes observed teaching practice")

No problem Alex, I'll state I'm from Ontesol on every comment I mention its courses. But I'm not trying to comment as spam. I only respond to certain comments about what people think of on-site/online courses and accreditations, and as part of my argument I mention that Ontesol is not like any other online school because our TESL Canada course is like Coventry's Trinity.

If you are interested in doing a TEFL course in China you should rethink about going to Zhuhai. I have met many graduates at the school that I am working now and most of them had many complaints about their organisation, Especially, the teaching practice left much to be desired.

If you are interested in China you should go to TEFL CHINA in Yangshuo. I took my course there and feel like they truly prepared me for the ELT world. Especially, the laid-back manner in which the course was presented made it such a great experience. Also, Yangshuo is one of the most beautiful places in China. Teaching practice was really goog. I had to teach everyday and at various levels.

Anyway, I hope this advice helps you.

Hey Lauralene

Totally agree with you. I also did the TEFL in Yangshuo. Also had a great experience.
I agree with you that if you are looking to do it in China, you should go to TEFL CHINA.

For those still looking for a great place, yangshuo is awsome!
