Studying to TEFL

Unread post by LukeNukem »

Hey, I'm a grade 12 student,I'm looking at TEFL in Japan as a career, but I can't find much more info than this site and the JET program, Could I get some advice and/or suggestions on what to do for university and other programs that are akin to JET? Any feedback is much appreciated.

Here's some basic info on teaching English in Japan: http://icalweb.com/wiki/index.php?title=Japan

Essentially you'll need a degree and then a TEFL certificate. The degree can be in any subject.

The JET program is good, but apparently it's becoming harder to get onto it and there are less jobs around now. What the situation will be like in a few years time is hard to say.
