Hi all,
I'm currently looking for my first TEFL job. I will be coming to Bangkok in August.
Anyone got any pointers of how to go about this?
I've done a search on the jobs on this site but there was only one Thailand job listed!
I've looked on a few other sites to no avail.
Does anyone know of any agencies that can help me?
Thanks.

Re: Jobs in Bangkok?
Be very much aware of agencies in Bangkok. Some are good, while others are flagrant scams.
You may wish to read this:
http://www.nittayo.org/agencies.html
One of the best job sites for Thailand is http://teflasia.com, but again, beware, as occasionally some of the advertisers are agencies pretending to be schools. remember that the best jobs go to the people who are already in the country and available for an interview at a moment''s notice. Most mainstream schools will not be recruiting again until September/October in time for the next semester. High street language institutes, and there are literally dozens of these, will employ at any time: walk-in interview recommended.
Don't forget that you will need a degree to teach in Thailand and that preferably you should obtain a 12 month Non-Im visa B before you arrive here, to avoid inconvenient trips to Thai consulates in neighbouring countries.

I offer any information or advice 'as is' and hope that it has been of help. I am not an admin of this board, and my postings do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the board management.
Re: Jobs in Bangkok?
Thanks. Maybe I will wait until I come out then.
Starting in September/October would be ideal.
I have a degree and am applying for a non-imm O visa.
Cheers.

I already gave you the link above. Here it is again:
http://teflasia.com
You can also try walking into the dozens of High Street language schools and offering your services. Be sure to be dressed for the part.
