I work online teaching, and am looking for a fairly simple oral/written exam that could be used with online students. I do use cam and voice, plus ability to bring up files etc. really would appreciate any help.

This can be very easily adapted to your requirement:

Oxford Placement Test
It includes a listening test. We have used it over 1,000 times with great success.

This is free, but far less reliable: http://englishenglish.com/englishtest.htm and has no listening component.

If you use a computer for your work, you will probably know how to use a search engine. You can find all kinds of tests for all levels by using Google.
Most language textbooks also come with tests and cassettes. Check out the on-line catalogues of Oxfod University Press, Cambridge University Press, and Longman, then order what you need from your local educational book store.

I created a multimedia assessment for my own online students. It now logs the student scores and gives a very good indication of the students level and tests most areas, except listening.

It is simple to use, but comprehensive in its scope and will certainly be of use to you if you are teaching online.

I'm going to take an Oxford Placement Test (OPT), but I find it hard to find an online test (especially the listening part). I tried the link that Systematic suggested but it didn't work anymore.

Can you show me where I can find a sample of OPT (including the listening section). I would appreciate any help.

Please remember that I posted that link two years ago - things can change rapidly on the Internet ! However, a quick Google search (which we have done for you) shows all the information is available at http://www.oup.com/elt/catalogue/isbn/7160?cc=gb

However, The Oxford Placement Test is for students of English - not for teachers. It is not an exam, and it used only to establish an approximate assessment of students' English in order to enroll them in a class of an appropriate level. It does not require any preparation as this would defeat the purpose of it. I am therefore curious to know why you wish to take this test.

If you are still confused about this test, don't hesitate to ask us for a recommendation for an alternative that might be better suited to you requirement.
