Hello,
I wonder if someone could tell me if it is possible to avoid teaching young children with a TEFL qualification? I am extremely interested in taking courses and think I would love to teach English. I would not enjoy or be very good at teaching young children however. It seems to me that one needs a special personality to do this. I would be very comfortable teaching adults or families and fairly comfortable with teenagers. Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Michael,
A lot of EFL teaching is done with adult students. In fact the UCLES and Trinity certificate courses focus on teaching adults.
I think it will be more than possible for you to avoid teaching children.
I agree totally with what you say about different skills being needed to teach young children.
All the best
Lucy
