Anyone teaching phrase grammar?

I'm currently working on the materials project for my diploma and am thinking of doing something with phrase grammar (noun phrase, adjective phrase, etc) to help students improve their writing. There seems to be almost zero material for students published. Any ideas why? ( I have my own theories...) Is any one out there using phrase grammar with their students? What kind of stuff are you doing?
