Is it necessary to teach all levels of adult learners?

Unread post by sheripc »

Hello!

I have just begun working on a TESL certificate and have been teaching adults as a volunteer for a year. I now realize that I really don't enjoy teaching beginning or intermediate students, but I have a great time teaching advanced students.

Is it realistic to believe I can find a paid position teaching only advanced students? What kind of teaching position would that be? I don't have a masters degree.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I think you could wait a bit longer before deciding which levels you would like to teach. After your course, you'll have more experience and more tips for dealing with various levels. You may find your preferences will change. I think it is rare to get a job teaching only advanced students; university work comes to mind. All the best, Lucy
