Stand by teachers

Unread postby mcfste » 26 Sep 2011, 18:43

I have another question for all you teflers out there. I have been mulling over the possibility of travelling around Spain and maybe Portugal and Italy (basically places with high numbers of English academies) contacting all the local schools in the area I will travel to with a view to be a stand-by teacher. In other words, when someone phones in sick, or takes surprise leave for whatever reason I would be available to sweep up the mess. Has anybody ever heard of this before? Furthermore does anybody think this would work or is it pie in the sky? I have bags of teaching experience and could find a fixed post no problem, but the idea of being internationally freelance appeals to me.
