which laptop for tefl?

Unread postby costello » Sun Aug 14, 2011 8:30 am

Hallo everyone,
I am 56 and do not really like computers. However my youger colleagues are using them all the time and I can see the advantages of them from a teaching point of view. So which laptop would be best for TEFL purposes?
I have tried asking at places like PC world but all they do is bamboozle me with a lot of young speak. I do not need things like web cam. Just one with a large screen. Please advise on both good and bad buys. e.g I hear Dell laptops have a design flaw.
Thanks
Colin

It doesn't really matter for 'TEFL purposes' but I'd recommend Apple; especially if you have an Apple store nearby and can take advantage of their one to one tutorials.

I'd agree it doesn't really matter, but I'd not recommend Apple for a technophobe who might also use computers at school, as the schools PCs will almost certainly be Windows and transferring files can be a pain if yours isn't also.
