Looking for course book recommendations

I am a teacher in Peru teaching privately to small groups of students. I am interested to know what course books people recommend. I am using Headway at the moment, but am not sure it's the best.

The books need to be appropriate to adult learners, (Preintermediate to Advanced) with plenty of speaking, listening and pronunciation activities (that's what the student's want) but also sufficient grammar etc.

Many of the students are also interested in business English so if anyone also has information on good business English course books, that will be great.

Thanks in advance. Tom

Yellow There! tominperu,

It's nearly impossible to find the holy grial of adult ELT courses/books/publishers etc....
I suggest you visit the publisher web sites
(Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Cambridge Unversity Press, Pearson ELT,Cengage Learning, MM Publications, Express Publishing, Marshall Cavandish etc....)
Each publisher website has loads of information and you can also look at the publisher's catalouge to look for books that could be useful to you and your students.

At our school we use the following books and they work well in class:

For general English we use:

The New Headway series

For Business English we use:

The New Market Leader series

I hope this helps!

Hi,

I would recommend that your students get themselves a copy of Michael Swans excellent "Practical English Usage". It's not a course book as such, but it will address the grammar needs of your students.

Oxford's New English File and Headway are excellent course books.
