Like the title suggests; I'm attempting to find clear, understandable songs to re-enforce grammar points and sentence structure.

I've started to list tenses and am trying to find a selection of songs for every tense/case.

Can you help?

- [ ] Past simple

- [ ] Past continuous

This is such a good idea. Here are ones I can think of off the top of my head:

Present Continuous

Tom's Diner- Suzanne Vega

Second Conditional

Being Around- The Lemonheads

If I Was A Boy- Beyonce

Thank you Alex, glad you like the idea!

Any more submissions, anyone?

***Stop press - Gremlin in the keyboard***

'Past simple' and 'Past continuous' should be swopped around in the first post - i.e.:
  • Bang Bang (My Baby Shot me Down)… Nancy Sinatra
Where the wild roses grow… Nick Cave
The man Who sold the World… David Bowie
Day in the life… The Beatles
Are all Past Simple… my bad!

As far as I remember, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is Present Perfect Simple all the way through (as in the title)

Hope it's not too late...
I've used the following
Simple Present

Present Continuous
Lemon tree (Fool's Garden)

Simple Past
Because you Loved me (Celine Dion)

Future Simple
I'll be there for you (Bon Jovi)
Always (Bon Jovi)
You'll be in my heart (Phil Collins)
I'll never break your heart (Back street boys)

Second Conditional
If today was your last day (Nickelback)
If walls could talk (Celine Dion)

Mixed conditionals
Hands Clean (Alanis M)

Regards!

Hello!

Some great suggestions already here. We've recently been working on a similar project at TeflTunes.com, producing a table of songs that could be used to teach various tenses:

Please come by to have a look, and email us with your own suggestions to add!

Best regards,
