Has anyone had a successful mentoring experience?

Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has had a successful mentoring experience. I will be graduating soon and was wondering if it was worth looking for a mentor to help guide me or if the support system at the school I will be working at be enough. So any experiences whether good or bad would be appreciated. Please provide information on both yourself and the mentor as well as what different aspects the mentor helped you with. For example did they help you with difficult situations or was it really just to get information about the system and how it works. Thanks.
