What you say is absolutely true Polaris. People need to know everything about their teaching gigs before they buy a plane ticket and come here to China. The links you gave would have prevented me from coming to China had I seen them a few months ago. Also here are some good tips for teachers exploring the China option. Be sure to read this before you sign any contracts and before you leave your homeland:

One thing for sure, China is a fun adventure but don't expect to earn a lot of money here.

Agreed with what you guys say, but i think it is also important to know that how and where you find you China teaching job will affect your earnings - and losses. This is what I am talking about:

If I apply directly to a public school or university in China, I don't have to worry about this crapola. Any other way involves a lots of risks.

I just found a lot of updated information and links about wages and salaries for China ESL, TEFL, & AP teachers here at this link that is quite interesting http://chinascamwatch.org. For sure it is best to negotiate directly with the school and not your China job agent.

I just found a link that has all the 2015 pay scale charts by Province and also the taxes are all different depending in what part of China you work. see here at http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.org And off course, your pay will also depend to some degree on your teaching experience and degrees and how well you can negotiate.

I think there should be a sliding scale of wages based on minimums based on qualifications like below:

Teachers with an Education degree - 350 yuan per hour
Teachers with a non-Education degree but have a TEFL certificate - 250 yuan per hour
All other Teachers with no TEFL Certificate - 200 yuan per hour

Then for every year of teaching experience ad 25 yuan per hour.
