I graduated from University last year, and I plan on doing a month long tefl course in September.

Do jobs begin throughout the year? As in should I be concerned that I might miss the beginning of some kind of universally accepted academic year by a month or so, which would mean I would then have to wait a long time till I could get a job?

Well, this has been answered many times before, and I remember answering a similar question very recently. In Thailand and most SE Asia countries, mainstream schools start on or around 5 May. High street language institutes operate all year round and one can start anytime.

China

If you are not looking for a school to process your VISA than you will be able to find work in just about any location at any time of year. It is ridiculously abundant of work and not enough teachers to fulfill the positions therefore, you will often find ads that have ASAP! at the end of the title.

Asia

Varies on location, but often they ask for either February-April start dates or August relocation for September start.

Hope this helps!
