Working in South Korea

Unread post by LUCIEJANE13 »

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can bring money out of South Korea? I am planning on working there for a year to save but I am worried that I will not be able to bring the money I earn home?

Any advice will be greatly received.

Many thanks.

You will have a South Korean bank account, so why not transfer your money back to your account in your home country. Most employers do direct deposit for their employees, so it is fairly safe to say you will have a bank account. Bank with Woori bank or Nonghup bank if you can. They are really two of the best. Korean banking law allows for up to $17,000 US to be transferred out of the country during one calendar year. Of course you have the bank transfer fees, but it is easy to do if you have a friend who can help you with the bank. I think you are also allowed to carry out up to $10,000 US from the country, but why risk being mugged on the way to the airport when you leave. Just do bank transfer and it will be much easier to get the money home you were planning on saving...My adivce...
