I am going to teach a young leader for
three hours a day for a week. This young learner mixes up a lot of his/her tenses. For example he/she says and write things like : I want to rest, because I arrived at Cambridge should 7pm yesterday,I think i should very tried,Thank you for your kindness。I dislike play golf sorry,I only want study English, because my English very poor, I will go to my hometown in last summer ,
Should I Start teaching him almost right from the beginning with the present simple tense? Or do you think this is too easy for him? I am not really sure where to start. Please could someone answer ASAP thank you

Why not start with Present Simple? You can soon move on if you deduce that it really is too easy for the student. Which from your example doesn't sound likely.
