Document legalisation at Chinese embassy in London

Unread post by gcteach90 »

Hi guys. Apologies if this is the wrong sub-forum for this.

UK-based person here preparing documents for heading out to China to teach English. All I have left for now is to take my degree certificate and TEFL certificate to the Chinese embassy (London is closest) to have them legalised for foreign use.

I've had them sent off to a notary public and the foreign office so all that's left now is to take them to the embassy.

For now I just wanted to ask if anyone knows whether I need an appointment at the embassy or whether I just turn up with the necessary documents?

I've looked on the embassy website and it says that I submit the documents to the embassy and then am given a date to return to pick them up, but I can't find a single word on whether I just turn up or need to make an advance appointment to be able to submit them?! I've also tried phoning the embassy but never get an answer.

Thanks.
