Hello English teachers!

I would much appriciate any advice from your experience on creative ways to teach English writing. Students do not like to write and have many difficulties sitting looking at the blank paper when the words refuse to come. I would like them to enjoy this activity and look forward writing papers about subjects related to their social life and interests. Do any of you use Essay Writing frames? What do you think about this tool?

Thank you very much for responding to my question and have a nice day.

Hi Galit
Why don't you try creative ways, like letting the students write poems: show them how a limerick looks like and let them try writing one themselves' let them experience in different types of writing: a letter, a movie script, a contract... and so on.
what do you think?

Dear Galit,

Another great way is finding a penpal through this site and help your students to correspond with them - It's such a great way to apply English learning!

Galit,

What I do in class is tell them to take one text that they have received from their friends and translate it to English. More if they like. Then at the end of the week, they will use those words or sentences to make a story out of it. It works really well cause the students find it amusing.

The other thing I do is allow them to engage in online games that are approved for their age where there are a lot of students online to chat with.

Hope this helps!
